The Essential Facts of Backgammon Tactics – Part One

[ English ]

The aim of a Backgammon game is to move your pieces around the Backgammon board and get those pieces off the board quicker than your challenger who works just as hard to achieve the same buthowever they move in the opposing direction. Winning a game of Backgammon requires both tactics and good luck. Just how far you will be able to shift your pieces is up to the numbers from rolling a pair of dice, and how you move your checkers are decided on by your overall gambling strategies. Enthusiasts use a few strategies in the different parts of a game based on your positions and opponent’s.

The Running Game Tactic

The aim of the Running Game tactic is to lure all your chips into your home board and pull them off as fast as you can. This strategy concentrates on the pace of advancing your chips with no time spent to hit or block your opponent’s checkers. The ideal time to employ this strategy is when you believe you can shift your own checkers faster than your opposition does: when 1) you have a fewer pieces on the board; 2) all your checkers have moved beyond your competitor’s chips; or 3) the opposing player does not use the hitting or blocking plan.

The Blocking Game Strategy

The main goal of the blocking strategy, by its title, is to stop your competitor’s checkers, temporarily, while not worrying about shifting your pieces rapidly. As soon as you have established the blockage for the competitor’s movement with a couple of pieces, you can shift your other pieces swiftly from the board. You should also have a clear plan when to extract and move the checkers that you employed for the blockade. The game becomes interesting when your opposition uses the same blocking strategy.
