The Blockade

This consists of creating a 6-thick wall of pieces, or at least as deep as you can manage, to lock in the opponent’s checkers that are located on your 1-point. This is judged to be the most acceptable tactic at the begining of the match. You can build the wall anyplace within your 11-point and your two-point and then move it into your home board as the match progresses.

The Blitz

This is composed of closing your home board as fast as possible while keeping your opponent on the bar. For example, if your challenger tosses an early two and moves one piece from your one-point to your three-point and you then roll a five-five, you are able to play six/one 6/1 eight/three eight/three. Your opponent is then in big-time calamity due to the fact that they have 2 checkers on the bar and you have closed half your inner board!

The Backgame

This course of action is where you have two or more pieces in your opponent’s inner board. (An anchor spot is a position consisting of at least 2 of your pieces.) It must be played when you are extremely behind as it much improves your opportunities. The best locations for anchors are towards your opponent’s lower points and either on adjacent points or with a single point in between.
