The Basics of Backgammon Strategies – Part 2

As we have dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a casino game of skill and luck. The goal is to move your chips carefully around the board to your home board and at the same time your opposing player shifts their checkers toward their home board in the opposite direction. With opposing player checkers moving in opposite directions there is bound to be conflict and the need for specific tactics at particular instances. Here are the last two Backgammon plans to complete your game.

The Priming Game Plan

If the aim of the blocking tactic is to hamper the opponents ability to move his pieces, the Priming Game plan is to completely barricade any movement of the opposing player by building a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s checkers will either get hit, or result a battered position if she ever tries to leave the wall. The ambush of the prime can be built anywhere between point 2 and point eleven in your game board. As soon as you’ve successfully built the prime to block the movement of the competitor, the opponent does not even get a chance to toss the dice, that means you shift your checkers and toss the dice yet again. You will win the game for sure.

The Back Game Technique

The aims of the Back Game strategy and the Blocking Game plan are similar – to harm your opponent’s positions hoping to better your chances of winning, however the Back Game plan utilizes alternate tactics to achieve that. The Back Game tactic is commonly used when you’re far behind your opponent. To participate in Backgammon with this tactic, you need to hold two or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This strategy is more difficult than others to employ in Backgammon seeing as it requires careful movement of your pieces and how the chips are moved is partially the outcome of the dice roll.
